Your comparison to a CD key is a bit ridiculous, a CD key does not force you to install device drivers which by their nature are designed to take away control over your computer and it is rare that CD keys cause problems (whereas it's well documents that copyprotection software does cause problems with certain configs, including obviously Wine) beyond perhaps the BioShock limited activations debacle. Not in the first two paragraphs obviously but probably in the article. You may as well mention that to install most games you must type in a CD key from the back of the CD case - just as irrelevant to the wiki article. People who mainly complain about it have questionable roles. Mentioning a copy protection technology within the first two paragraphs of the article is not particularly necessary.
